Google Analytics is used to collect certain data from your website . In addition, Google Analytics collects and shows data on the behavior of visitors on the site (where users come from to the site, how old they are, what mobile system they use, what their interests are , etc.). That’s why it’s so important to use analytics, and in this article, we’ll show you the basics of Google Analytics.

Basic settings of Google Analytics

This data is collected in reports and used for deeper analysis in order to better understand your customers (users) and speed up their path to the desired conversion (purchase of products, newsletter sign-ups, etc.).

Creating a Google Analytics account

To access Google Analytics, you need a standard Google account.

After logging in, enter the account name of your choice. Google Analytics then asks you if you want to measure a website , a mobile app, or both. An object is set up in analytics by first naming the website you want to track along with the URL of the site. An important part of this section is the selection of industry categories. This helps Google Analytics to create better reports tailored to your industry.

In the new settings, you are assigned a new Javascript tracking code. Once it is placed on all pages of your site, Google Analytics will be able to measure user behavior on your site. Instructions for installing analytics through the WordPress platform can be found here.

When the code is active, there is a real-time view in the Realtime/Oveview section to make sure the code is working properly.

Google Analytics hierarchy

In analytics, we distinguish 3 basic concepts, namely:

  1. Analiytics Accounts
  2. Property
  3. View
