Content consumption nowadays depends on several factors – age, location, lifestyle and sphere of interest of the individual. People follow and read different types of content, from video to text. Nowadays, when people are quite busy, they still find time to follow and read blogs, whose topics interest them.

Why do people read blogs?

People read a blog for 3 reasons:

  1. to learn something new
  2. to have fun
  3. to follow the trends related to the work they are doing.

People want to learn something new

The most common reason people will read a blog post is to learn something new.

People search Google every day looking for instructions on how to do something. Posts that include guides, tutorials that explain in detail how to do something, and videos with step-by-step instructions are often the most visited and read.

Even when posts don’t specifically inform people about how to do something, but instead discuss complex topics such as studies, trends, or cover topics that people are less familiar with, they can pique readers’ curiosity and entice them to read some text.

People crave useful information. If you work as a blogger or copywriter, you can use this to create attention-grabbing content while writing about topics related to your brand, product or service.

People like to have fun

As we said before, people crave knowledge, but they also like to be entertained. What we all like to read are texts that tell interesting stories, can make us laugh or intrigue us in some other way.

You may have wondered how you can entertain your readers while still keeping your blog posts professional. When thinking creatively, there are several ways you can entertain your audience while still staying business-like.

For example, you can create a fun chart or post with photos on Instagram about the trend that’s most relevant in your business right now.

You can also create a fun yet informative video or podcast to go along with your blog. With these additional contents, you can, for example, interview an expert in your field in a podcast.

People like to follow trends

Although some people may not be interested in reading articles that talk about your brand or the product/service you offer, they might still be intrigued by some interesting text that talks about the industry your product is related to.

People still read quality content, and by that we mean content that will inform them, teach them something new, or entertain them. If you are a copywriter or have your own blog, it is your job to provide them with such content.
