In one of the previous articles, we wrote about the Google Analytics approach platform, as well as the most basic concepts related to it. In our new article, we will write about what are the metrics in Google Analytics that should be monitored.
Metrics in Google Analytics
Metrics in Google analytics are a set of performance data associated with an action on your site. In a concrete example, it can be how many people visited your site in the previous month, how long on average people stay on the site, how long they stay on a certain page, etc.
What are the most important metrics in Google Analytics?
It certainly depends on your goals and the intention with which the site was created. If you write blogs, your goal will certainly be to attract as many people as possible and to have them stay as long as possible on your site.
Below we will explain a few terms, after which it will be much easier for you to decide what you want to track on your site.
Traffic
This is the most basic metric and represents the traffic to your site. It shows the number of people who visited your site in a certain period.
Traffic source
This metric provides an easy way to find out which channels bring the most traffic to your site.
The average time spent on the site shows how much time the user spends on the site on average. This is an extremely good indicator of the content on the site. If the users find the content interesting, relevant and educational, the chances are that they will stay longer on the site.
Top pages
It is designed to provide you with data on the most visited pages on the site, giving you an answer to the question of which pages are successful and which should be better optimized in terms of content.
Bounce rate
It represents the percentage of people who leave the site after opening only one page – Landing page .
User behavior flow
It shows the flow of user behavior on the site. Here is a view of how users move through the pages on your site. Starting from Landing page, then to the pages from which they leave the site.
In addition to the above, there are many more metrics like the standard ones – gender, age, location of the user, whether they visited the site from a phone or a computer, what kind of system they use on the device, etc.
Which of the listed metrics is best for you, as we mentioned before, depends on your goals that need to be set beforehand.
