Google Analytics offers various possibilities and insights about how visitors behave on your site.
Google launched version 4 in October 2020 Google analytics called GA4, and this month announced that from July 1, 2023, it will stop processing new data associated with older versions of analytics ( Universal Analytics ).

What you need to know about Google Analytics 4
GA4 is the latest kind of Google analytics that combine data from both apps and web pages at once. Anyone who has previous versions Google analytics installed can be upgraded to GA4. This way a new one will be created property to collect new data and your current Google Analytics account will not be affected .
Difference between Universal Analytics and GA4
GA4 is a new, different version of Google Analytics and has several differences compared to the previous version.
Interface
GA4 has a completely new data set to display and is significantly different from the previous version. You shouldn’t be surprised if you can’t find some of the data you tracked in your previous analytics.

Tracking ID
In order to set the tracking of GA4 analytics, instead of Tracking ID (previous version of analytics), it is necessary to set Measurement ID starting with ”G-”.
Events tracking
In the previous version of Google analytics, all events you track must follow the category-action-label-value scheme. In GA4 analytics it looks a little different. It doesn’t exist category, action and label options, there are already 4 types of events:
-
- Automatically collected
- Improved measurement
- Recommended
- Custom
The first two types of events do not require any change in website or application code.
In addition to the above, there are several other innovations such as the way to track conversions, the setting of tracking codes and others.
