As you may have noticed, the dark interface has become more and more prevalent on both websites and apps. The popular Dark mode really gives some cool looks, in our opinion, and we are happy to use it wherever it is offered as an option. Facebook, Instagram, and many other social networks have recently introduced this method of display.
However, the question arises as to whether this option has an impact on optimization. This topic was raised at the recent Google Webmaster Central hangout, which took place on October 18. Google’s John Miller was asked this question. When he realized that he was also a fan of this look, he moved on to answer the question.
Dark mode is safe for SEO.
When it comes to SEO, there are no negative consequences due to the use of dark mode, nor are there any specific recommendations for use. Dark mode is an option that is edited by CSS on a website, and how CSS is implemented on the site does not affect how Google crawls and indexes content.
Miller went to great lengths to explain that dark mode does not affect a website’s ranking factor in any way. Miller mentioned the possibility that in the future, Google will consider the possibility of specifically flagging sites that enable Dark Mode for users whose devices are already tuned to this option. He added that he doubts that this will happen, but that it is certainly interesting to think about it.
