Facebook remains a dominant force in the digital marketing landscape, with over 2.9 billion monthly…
Many will probably think at first, “Here’s another social network, who’s going to follow all that.” However, Pinterest should not be taken lightly, especially due to the fact that it has been around since March 2010 and currently has over 450 million monthly active users worldwide. of the world (the number may have changed by the time you read this blog). And if leaders like Facebook and Instagram are hard to follow, Pinterest is a tool with a different approach that can bring “freshness” to your daily activities and business. With this blog, we will try to explain how.
Why use Pinterest?
In a private sense, you will probably find a good recipe, how to make something, how to dress or how to decorate an apartment. However, in a business sense, Pinterest is a powerful tool in finding new ideas, especially in marketing, design and other creative jobs. In short, it’s a way to practically collect and categorize the things you need, are interested in, and love.
Users of this network, or as they are popularly called “pinners”, can explore the interests, that is, the content of other pinners and save them for one of the current or future projects. They can also follow other accounts , brands or topics. It’s the same as with other social networks, only with the help of Pinterest you don’t do it through their posts, but through content that interests them.
Terminology
As Pinterest offers its characteristic interface, it may seem confusing at first, but you will get used to it easily and quickly by knowing a few basic terms:
Board – Board is the basic element of any profile that represents a specific category of your interest. Your “bulletin board” or board is a virtual space that you fill with images or videos from a certain category. You can set up as many boards as you want on your profile.
Pins – So if users fill their boards with content that is relevant to that category or topic, those images and videos are actually pins. The source for your pins can be Pinterest itself, content downloaded from the internet, or original content you’ve created. Each pin can contain an image, video, link and description. You can send interesting pins to your friends.
Repin – When a user places a pin from another pinner on his board then it is a repin. Something similar to share with other social networks.
Business application of Pinterest
In terms of business, large companies probably won’t gain much from smaller businesses that can use Pinterest to promote their products or services through compelling content.
This means that with the help of Pinterest you can increase brand awareness .
It is already quite clear that for the marketing of any business or brand it is important to have as much presence on the Internet as possible. Although not yet as popular as some other channels, Pinterest can help you spread awareness of your brand. In addition to the logo, description of the product or service, business users can add a link to the website to each pin along with interesting content and thereby increase traffic. Which again means that every visitor to your profile is quickly converted into a potential customer or lead . As Internet users are actively researching with the intention of finding a solution, it can lead them to prefer to buy it.
To be completely honest, creating an account and spreading your content across Pinterest can take some time to pay off. However, the not-so-negligible fact is that Pinterest is another platform where you can promote your brand or website for free.
Keywords
Unlike some other networks, content on Pinterest never gets old, so it should be made more accessible to internet search engines. Like Instagram, Pinterest is primarily a visual platform, but carefully chosen titles or board descriptions can be just as important. Use the keywords you’ve already implemented on your site and transfer them to your Pinterest strategy.
Finally, speaking from personal experience, precisely because Pinterest is a visual platform, it is often an inexhaustible source of inspiration for us. When researching to create a logo , color palette or typography, Pinterest has proven to be a very useful tool.
