Although it was primarily created as a platform for sharing photos, Instagram changed over time and went in line with the novelties and needs of users.
Thus, in 2021, Instagram announced that the platform is changing its focus and that as an application it is turning towards the creation of “new experiences” in the form of four key areas: creators, Social commerce, correspondence and videos. It is the last mentioned area of the topic that we will write about below.
This announcement comes in the same month that Instagram doubled the maximum length of Instagram Reels , signaling a significant commitment to video.
Instagram Reels of interest
Maximum video length of 90 seconds
Although originally designed to share videos as short as 15 seconds, Instagram soon doubled the maximum video length for Reels to 30 seconds, only to do the same again in July 2021 to 60 seconds. The move comes just weeks after TikTok tripled the maximum length of their videos from one minute to three. In 2022, Instagram has increased the maximum length once again and as of May 2022, some users can make Reels videos as long as 90 seconds.
The recommended video format is 9:16
9:16 is the standard aspect ratio for vertical videos. If you want your Reels video to have a large reach and number of interactions, this is the recommended format. Instagram also recommends a size of 1080 x 1920 pixels.
It is clear to everyone that Instagram Reels is intended for mobile format, and therefore users should avoid recording and uploading Instagram Reels videos in a horizontal format – 16:9.
The maximum size of a Reels video is 4GB
Considering that Reels has a maximum duration of 60 seconds, 4 GB is more than enough to upload the highest quality video.
It is recommended to record in 1080p, which most mobile devices support, while some even record in 4K, thus increasing the quality of Reels videos even more.
Instagram Reels with the most views
It is about Reels, the most famous influencer from Senegal. Ovaj primer nam pokazuje da ponekad najprostije ideje mogu imati najefektnije rezultate, čak i kada se ništa ne izgovara.
9 out of 10 users watch Instagram videos weekly
In August 2021, Instagram reported that 91% of recently surveyed active Instagram users said they watch videos on Instagram at least once a week. For marketers, this is great information – videos are reaching audiences and becoming more popular on the platform.
Reels has become Instagram’s fastest growing format in the world
Over the past year, search interest in Instagram Reels has surpassed interest in Instagram Stories, peaking around the first week of 2022. With audiences actively searching Reels and wanting to learn about the opportunities it provides, marketers should adopt Reels as part of your Instagram marketing strategy as soon as possible.
Nike averages 4.6 million views per Reels
Reels with the most views on the Nike profile have 6.7 million views, while the worst one also has an impressive 3.4 million. Nike is just one of the big brands using Reels to attract viewers.
It can be concluded that Reels has become quite popular and a format worth publishing.
