YouTube clips in live streaming

Google has recently introduced a lot of innovations in many of its products. Of course, YouTube was not neglected either. YouTube is introducing a new feature that would allow users to capture and share moments from videos and live streams. These YouTube clips can be between 5 and 60 seconds long and will have a new URL associated with them.

YouTube clips and streaming

YouTube Clips allows you to select a 5-60 second segment of content (uploaded and streamed videos) that can be shared with others on different platforms. If you’re watching content from one of the channels in this experiment, you’ll see a clip icon below the video, which will allow you to select the part of the video you want to trim. “, according to the company’s official statement.

Clip trimming has become a standard feature of live streaming and has finally been adopted by YouTube . Viewers tend to create clips from streams when it comes to a funny moment, a catchy quote, a funny or embarrassing gaffe, an impressive detail from a video game, etc. Considering the increasing popularity they are gaining, YouTube clips could prove to be one of its most significant additions in the near future.

All YouTube clips will be linked with a separate URL to the video creator’s channel. Every time a viewer clips a stream and shares it, it potentially helps that channel gain more viewers.

First phase of testing

This feature is currently in alpha testing and is only available to select authors. This is a smart move for YouTube , as clipping clips is becoming the industry standard for live streaming . This way, you can more easily share live video content via a short, shareable video clip, rather than requiring viewers to view videos that can be lengthy.

YouTube is testing the new feature with a relatively small group of creators, gathering feedback to guide further development of the feature. YouTube clips can be created during a live stream and from video on demand (VOD), uploaded later. If you watch content from one of the channels included in the test group, you will see a clip icon that looks like scissors under the video. Tap the clip icon and you’ll be able to select the part of the video you want to share with others.

Although YouTube clips can only be created from certain channels during the test period, all viewers can create clips from those channels. When a user creates a clip, it is saved on a dedicated card that will house all the clips the user creates on YouTube . YouTube doesn’t specify which channels are part of the test group, so you’ll have to look for an icon for this feature.
