Optimizing the site so that the Google algorithm recognizes it as high-quality and positions it well in the search results is a continuous race with the news and requirements that the algorithm puts before website owners. It is common knowledge that the ultimate user satisfaction is what Google is interested in, because it is a guarantee that they will continue to be its users. This is precisely why the Page Experience update represents an important novelty when it comes to the Google algorithm. Page Experience is a set of signals that measure how users perceive the experience of interacting with a web page beyond its purely informative value.

When will the Page Experience update be rolled out?

Google says in a blog post that the Page Experience update will begin rolling out in mid-June, but won’t play its full role in search rankings until late August.

We will begin using page experience as part of our ranking systems starting in mid-June 2021. However, page experience will not play its full role as part of those systems until the end of August. You can think of this as adding flavor to the food you are preparing. Instead of adding the flavor all at once, we will slowly add it over this period of time.

One of the reasons for the gradual introduction of the Page Experience update is to monitor possible unexpected or unwanted problems. Sites shouldn’t expect drastic changes when this update goes live, Google says, as page experience will be one of many factors taken into account when ranking web pages.

When these changes are implemented, page experience will join the hundreds of signals that Google takes into account when generating search results. Although page experience is an important item, Google still strives to rank pages with the best information, even if the page experience is below par. A good page experience cannot override great page content. However, in cases where there are multiple pages that may be similar in importance, page experience can gain a lot of importance for search visibility. .”

The new Page Experience report is now available in Google Search Console and combines the Core Web Vitals report with other page experience signals. In addition to Core Web Vitals, it will be monitored whether the site is mobile-friendly, the issue of security, the use of the HTTPS protocol , the non-display of intrusive advertisements and banners. Loading speed itself is now starting to lose its absolute importance when it comes to a good user experience. No matter how fast the site is, if it does not meet the other criteria, it will not have a good page experience.

The Page Experience report will measure the percentage of URLs on a site that offer a good experience based on an evaluation of the above factors. Site owners can also use the report to gain additional insight into opportunities to improve their website.
