Instagram and Facebook terminology

Social media trends are constantly changing. Whether it’s a social media novelty, new social media, or changes in algorithms, strategy, or statistics, people in the world of digital marketing and business owners need to stay up to date and informed, and the best way to do that is exactly this. Reading the best blogs about the newspapers that are being introduced, but also recalling the most basic terms, without which no statistics would make sense.

Basic terminology on Instagram and Facebook

Facebook and Instagram They are two of the most popular social networks. Both for individual users and for all large companies. The interesting thing about these social networks is the statistics they provide and their terminology.

Facebook and Instagram Terminology and statistics provide us with an introduction to various data that are of great importance to us during the campaign. All data is available to us as the campaign progresses, from the beginning to its final results.

What is REACH ?

Reach refers to the total number of people, i.e. Accounts who have seen your advertisement or post. Which means that if you have a reach of 250 on a post, it means that 250 people have seen that post.

Reach is divided into 3 categories, which are:

1.Organic reach The number of people who have seen your post in their news feed.

Viral reach The number of people who saw your post because someone on their friends list interacted with it.

Paid Reach The number of people who saw your post as an advertisement that you sponsored.

Reach is a statistic of great importance and it is exactly what you should pay attention to. Through reach you check whether your post is really good. If the post has a large reach, and a small number of interactions, it is a sign that something is wrong and that people did not like your post.

Now that you know what all the types of reach exist, the question is what kind of reach is actually the best? The answer is simple. Organic reach is of utmost importance. The reason for this is that I Facebook looks at the organic reach in the first 3 hours of publishing a post and through it releases the post to people in the News feed.

What is an impression – a view?

Impression or display actually refers to the number of screens on which your post is displayed. This also means that if a user sees your post 450 times on the screen, it counts as 450 each time impression.

Many people confuse reach and impression, but the difference is obvious. Reach is based on the number of unique users. counts every time someone sees a post. On the other hand, The impression is always greater than the reach.

What is Engagement – Interaction?

Engagement or interaction is different on Instagram and Facebook

On Instagram , engagement includes:

1.Likes – the number of likes on your post

2.Comments – the number of comments on your post

Forwarding a post – the number of times your post has been forwarded via Instagram Direct.

4.Saving a post – the number of times your post has been saved

On Facebook , engagement includes:

1.Likes – the number of likes on your post

2.Comments – the number of comments on your post

3.Shares – The number of times your post has been shared by another user.

4. Clicks – there are two types of clicks, the first is post clicks , it is counted when someone simply clicks on your post, and the second is called link clicks and these are special posts that contain a link and it is this statistic that allows us to see the exact number of people who clicked on that link and went where you directed it.

There is also a negative engagement that happens if a user hides your post, dislikes your post, or reports it as spam.

Engagement rate and why is it important?

On Facebook, the engagement rate is the ratio of the number of interactions to reach, multiplied by 100, to get the percentage, or probability, of an interaction on a given post or for a given period.

While on Instagram It’s the relationship between interaction and the number of followers. This is probably the most important thing, because it is what we can see how much people really like the post. Which is bigger engagement rate, the audience has more interaction with the post. Also, Facebook and Instagram release organic reach through engagement rate, which was discussed at the beginning of the text.
