Personalization in e-mail marketing means targeting a specific user with all the data and information we have about him (user name, company name, etc.).

The very goal or purpose of email personalization is to make your users feel important. You need to present to them that they are not just an email address in your database.

What do personalized emails look like?

One of the most common forms of personalization is using the user’s name, either in the subject line or in the body of the email.

What else can be personalized?

In addition to the already mentioned user name, some of the forms of personalization can be the name of the company, the product or service they use, and the like.

How are names, emails and other personalization attributes linked?

As we mentioned in the previous blog , one of the most important things about Email of marketing is a well-organized email database. It is in your database that you connect emails with other characteristics of the user (name of the company where he is employed, whether he uses one of your services or bought a certain product, etc.).

After you organize the database and upload it as a Contact list within your provider , all you have to do is import that data when creating the email you send.

Each provider is specific regarding the design and creation of emails, however, the personalization information is imported in a similar way. As you can see in the picture below, in the text options (bold, italic, underline and similar) there is a separate item “Add personalisation”. Here you choose which attribute you want to import into the email. In addition to adding personalization to the email body, you can also add personalization to the email subject itself.
