Printed material is used less and less for marketing purposes and the digital world has long taken over. However, one of the formats that has survived in printed form is flyers. Just look at your mailbox and you’ll understand why we make this claim.
How to design a flyer
In this text, we will look at why flyers should be one of the elements of a marketing strategy and how to design an attention-grabbing flyer.

The fact is that flyers are not as popular as they used to be, especially considering that there are adequate substitutes in the digital world (landing pages, social networks, etc.). However, this does not mean that they are not equally effective.
Why do we claim this?
Nowadays, people are more and more cautious about the information they receive via e-mail or some other form of online advertising, so many of them go unnoticed.
Apart from this kind of caution not existing with printed material, flyers also have the advantage of delivering an important message to consumers where they are.
Flyers should be distributed where the target audience will be concentrated. For example, if you want to advertise a new food product, you will distribute flyers in the market or if you are opening a new store, you will distribute flyers around the location where it is located.
Simply put, as with everything else, you will place the information where the audience will be open to hearing it.

Flyer format
Flyer design should start with the format or dimensions.
The most cost-effective way to print is to use one of the standardized formats A4, A5, A6, etc.
Besides, of course, you will take care of the budget, the choice should also depend on the amount of information you will market. You should certainly avoid, for the sake of saving space, suppressing the content, that is, the size of the text, images, illustrations or empty space that you will use during the design.

Title
Keep in mind that, as always, the most important thing is to grab the attention of consumers, otherwise they will quickly lose interest, regardless of how useful the information is to them.
One of the first steps is to have a clear, legible and easily recognizable title.
Think by putting yourself in the role of the user and what would attract your attention in the title. You can define it in the form of a question, a simple phrase or sentence, or even as a single word, especially if it is “Sale”, “Promotion”, “New”, etc.
After a good and “catchy” title, create the content in such a way as to respect the visual hierarchy, i.e. to make it interesting for consumers but also easy to follow the flow of information.
Balance
One of the most common mistakes made is the need to put as much information as possible (text, images, graphics or illustrations) on the flyer, which almost as a rule should be something concise.
That is why it is necessary to find a balance and understand it as one of the important steps in the design process.
Focus on key information
Make sure you have large enough margins and empty space between elements. That the images and text are proportionate and balanced and that all excess information is removed in time.
Other tips for designing flyers
We have already talked about colors and typography in earlier topics, but for the flyer it is necessary to know that they should be in accordance with the brand, product or service that you want to promote. So, for example, you will not use some dark colors and business fonts for a children’s playroom, just as you will not use some bright colors and cheerful fonts for, say, consulting services.
Include a call to action in your flyer design. Whether you want your audience to visit one of your stores or websites, attend a concert or seminar, or simply contact you, try to emphasize that on the flyer. Using QR codes that take up little space and lead, for example, to web pages where consumers can find more detailed information can help you a lot in this.
Keep in mind that the flyer should first of all convey information and that it is not necessary to create some revolutionary design solution and if that is always a plus for your brand. Therefore, especially if you are limited in time, you can use some of the already existing templates on the Internet, ideas from Pinterest , or reworked and refined solutions of flyers that caught your attention.

Finally, once you have completed the design of the flyer, in addition to preparing it for printing, consider whether it is necessary to make additional corrections in size or format in order to use it as a post on social networks or a banner. In this way, you can reach a wider audience than the basic one for which you intended it.
