We are sure that no one expected Google to remain silent on recent developments related to the development of AI, especially the appearance of ChatGPT by OpenAI.

Google runs Bard

Google has announced that it will make its experimental conversational AI service Bard, powered by LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications), more widely available in the coming weeks.

Big news from Google too

As they say from Google : “Our latest artificial intelligence technologies – such as LaMDA, PaLM, Imagen and MusicLM – create completely new ways to interact with information, from language and images to video and audio. We’re working to bring the latest AI advances to our products, starting with search.

Although in the past Google was quite reserved about releasing AI products into widespread use, recent events have forced them to change their agenda somewhat.

“One of the most exciting opportunities is how artificial intelligence can deepen our understanding of information and more efficiently turn it into useful knowledge, facilitating people to get to the core of what they are looking for and satisfy their need. When people think of Google, they often think of turning to us for quick factual answers, like “how many keys are on a piano?” But increasingly, people address Google for deeper insight and understanding – for example, “Is it easier to learn piano or guitar, and how much practice does each instrument require?” Learning about this topic can take a lot of effort to figure out what you really need to know, and people they often want to explore a diverse range of opinions or perspectives.”

Customized and more understandable search

Bard uses Google’s LaMDA system to power conversational artificial intelligence that can also use information from the Internet. AI-powered search features translate complex information and multiple perspectives into easy-to-digest formats, so you can quickly understand the bigger picture and learn more. In this way, Bard tries to adapt the search to every age and level of knowledge, helping to present new knowledge and experiences as clearly as possible.

Google of course owns and maintains the largest and most up-to-date record of content on earth, and no doubt Bard will use that information to its advantage, but exactly how it processes and packages that information will only become clear once people start using it.
